Essential information about Incredibows:
1. We only make bows using Carbon Fiber sticks. We use NO WOOD
in any bows, although we can make them LOOK like wood. (See Colors page for
2. We use NO Horsehair. ALL the "hair" is made of tough polymer
filament designed to grab the strings well (when rosined) and last literally
for YEARS! Bow AND hair is warranted to last a minimum of three years.
Some musicians have regularly used the same Incredibow for four years now,
without loss of even one hair! WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG THIS BOW WILL
LAST WITH PROPER CARE.
3. All the bows bow "outward" and the hair is permanently tensioned.
They are NOT designed for rehairing - if it wears out before three years
we'll send you a new bow. We'll also give generous trade-in value on a new
4. BOW WEIGHT: Over 95% of our Incredibows are now
sold in FEATHERWEIGHT version - almost HALF the weight of traditional bows -
and not even possible to achieve as traditional wood bows. Incredibow
"hair" grabs the strings of your instrument better than the traditional
horsehair or other synthetic hair. You will experience a new freedom
of play, reduced fatigue and faster bow response than ever expected!
However, we will make your Incredibow any weight you want, upon request at
no extra charge.
If you don't specify weight, you will receive our featherweight version.
5. BOW LENGTH: We can make your bow ANY
LENGTH you want at no extra charge as well- specify size (eg 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 etc.) or
specify length in inches or centimeters. Again, if you don't specify
length we will ship the full (4/4) length of 29" for violin or viola and 28"
for cello. (We have made a working Incredibow only 2" long, and a couple
bows have been 32" long!)
We now are offering THREE
DESIGNS OF INCREDIBOWS, available for violin, viola or cello Or
A. The first design
we call the Incredibow ORIGINAL.
It has a frog something like traditional bows and includes our unique "modified octagonal
grip" that we've been making for
several years. If you don't specify frog type we'll send you one like
this. Here's a picture:

OMNIBOW! ONE Incredibow that
can be used on several different instruments - from fiddle to cello, musical
saw to dulcimer. We've learned from feedback that many musicians play
several bowed instruments, some already using one Incredibow for all their
instruments! So we've designed the Omnibow to handle most any bowed
instrument. Order a Violabow go to our "Omnibow" page click here:

MORE INFORMATION REGARDING INCREDIBOW FUNCTION AND
Nearly indestructible, Incredibow is fast becoming the
favorite bow of many professional and amateur fiddlers, violinists, violists
and cellists throughout the world! (Not to mention the
musical saw musicians for whom Incredibow was originally designed - plus
many other bowed instruments such as Nyckleharpa, bowed guitar, bowed
dulcimer and more!)
Consider this: relatively little has changed in bowmaking in at least the
past 250 years! Only the stick composition is new in some cases. Line up
several brands and price range bows - from $80 to $8,000 bows - they all
look alike - and they all look like the bows of hundreds of years
ago! What other technology stopped changing it's product 250 years ago?
Sturdy and affordable, Incredibow has changed all that.
Why buy an Incredibow?
Different musicians have found different reasons to invest in an Incredibow.
Here are some:
1. Clarity of sound: folks find Incredibow produces a
sound not available with most wood bows and/or horsehair. Clean, crisp full
range tones - and absence of "hair noise"!
2. Great grab/ good volume with little effort.
3. Need for less rosin and less frequent rosining.
4. Everlasting hair! Professional musicians who
regularly had to rehair their traditional bows every few weeks or months,
now have used their Incredibow for over FOUR years and still not losing even one
hair! We do not know the life of our Incredihair! It is
warranted for three years' minimum.
5. Immediate playability: With our fixed tension
Incredibows you never need to loosen or tighten the hair band. It is
always ready - for those brief moments to practice at home and ready to go
6. Play in humid weather! When other fiddlers are
putting their bows and fiddles away, you can keep on playing!
7. Health/ comfort in playing. Several Incredibow
owners are now playing again when they had believed that their playing days
were over. With our featherweight bow and comfortable frog/ grip,
musicians now find that they are back, able to play for hours at a time when
they had fatigue and pain with traditional bows. CHECK A RECENT
TESTIMONIAL LETTER WE RECEIVED - SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.
8. PRICE and guarantee. Two of our customers
reports that they have found Incredibow preferable to their $6,000 wood bow !
Two other musicians have reported replacing their $2,000 bows with
Incredibows. Many other musicians report Incredibows compare in
quality/ tone to bows costing hundreds of dollars more. And NO ONE will
treat you better as far as doing what we can to have a satisfied customer.
But don't take our word for it - just Google
"Incredibow" or get into Fiddle Forum, Sessions or Cello Society or other discussion boards and
find out what folks are saying about Incredibows.
You can buy an Incredibow right here from the folks who
invented it and handcraft the bows, or go
to our "Associates" page and purchase an Incredibow from one of
our resellers. THANKS!

HERE'S AN EMAIL RECENTLY FORWARDED TO US
BY OUR AUSTRALIAN ASSOCIATE, RHYS EVANS OF FIDDLE AUSTRALIA:
Well... What can I say?I would have written sooner to tell you how
wonderful the incredibow is... but I can't put it down long enough to
get on the computer! It's brilliant! Simply amazing. I've already put
in a few solid hours with it... and then when I stop for a cup of tea I
can't help wondering how a different tune might now sound so I have to
pick it up again.
Having it permanently tensioned is great - always ready to go! It
really is an amazing piece of engineering. As others have said before
me, I was somewhat skeptical and hoped that it might be merely adequate
(the attraction being its' apparent robustness)... but it's so much
more! Indeed it's light, but that's not to say tactile response and
feel has been lost or compromised. In fact, things like quick double
stops on the fly seem so much easier with this bow. It feels like it
knows what I want to do and does it before I make it a conscious
decision. Crunchy Donegal triplets are a breeze as are quick
The "hair" is really something... It took only 40 seconds or so to
rosin up (I didn't want to over rosin - as per the instructions) and I
was ready to play. Sooo easy. The tone and voice that's now dancing
from my fiddle is really exciting! It feels like the handbrake has been
taken off and now it can really "sing" (I didn't realise the handbrake
was even on!) The sound is still as nuanced before; slow airs are so
full and somehow more "pure". Violin purists might disagree with the
idea of "new technology" because they may relish in the use of real
hair and real wood (and a bow that bends the right way)... but they
might just be doing themselves a disservice by missing out on that
which modern science has brought to the fore. Had the incredibow been
around a few hundred years ago I think we'd all accept them as being
One VERY VERY happy customer!
Can't wait to see what the other Sydney fiddlers think!

If there were bigger, fatter ones I would have used them ;)

How does a violin sound
when played with an Incredibow?
Recently we were
made aware of an MP3 audio file created by Simon Bacon of Northern
Ireland. He composed this Aire, named Lament for Pernambuco, and
he has given us permission to link to his file, which is on his
webpage. Perhaps it will give you a sense of how Incredibow
brings out the full range sound of the instrument.
Here is the link:
His website is the same as above, wiithout the /pernambuco.mp3 which
Here's a little
biographical sketch in his own words to us:
Thank you for your kind words. I'm pleased you like the Lament, and
I'm very happy for you to link to my recording from your website if
I'm an amateur fiddler from Northern Ireland. I played classical music
from ages 8 to 18, lost interest for a few years, then discovered
fiddle music about 8 years ago and never looked back. I mostly play
Irish traditional music, but I'm interested in any kind of music that
folks are making on the fiddle. I first heard about the Incredibow on
www.fiddleforum.com a couple of years ago. I must admit I was very
dubious at first, but I lost my prejudices when I got to try the bows
out at one of the "Fiddle Hell" events (organized partly through
Fiddle Forum). Last month I bought a no-frills featherweight from
Dance of Delight in England, so that's why you don't have a record of
I've been having fun with the Incredibow, and despite some
reservations, I think there's a lot to like about it. When I've spent
some more time with it, and gathered my thoughts, I'll write a review
and post it on Fiddle Forum.
Note: If you like Simon's work, you may go to his
website for more of his compositions. We bet he'd like to hear
from you, too!
Made with care:
Incredibow is our own patented invention and each
Incredibow is hand made by us. Over sixty separate operations are performed in the
assembly and finishing process - to create a bow which looks and functions
simply, beautifully with little maintenance. NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT ON
Hair and stick are
warranted to function well for a minimum of three years. We have
no idea how long these components will last.
Incredibows need no
tensioning. Hair is pretensioned and always ready to play.
Most musicians report
increased volume and clearer tone compared to horsehair, with need
to rosin less often.
More and more
musicians are ordering our featherweight Incredibows, reporting
faster action, less fatigue. Some musicians who have given up hope
of continuing to be able to play due to arthritis or other
crippling conditions, have returned to playing when using our
Incredibows have been
compared by several musicians to good traditional bows costing
$500 or more. A couple of cellists have reported retiring
their $1,000 to $6,000 bows in favor of using Incredibows.
More and more
professional musicians are now using Incredibows as their primary
bow for full time play. Bluegrass, Country, Cajun, Irish Fiddle,
Symphony Orchestra and Rock Bands are some venues finding
Incredibow use - in many countries around the world.
We may not warrant wear and tear on skin or rubber
coating on frog or grip area due to differences in how bows are
used/abused and cared for by the bow owners. We will offer a very
good trade-in value on the old Incredibow for a new one, however, if we
determine unusual wear or abuse of the bow.
BASIC "no frills bows"
(violin, viola or cello) start at $125 for BASIC bow
ORIGINAL or STEALTH violin bows
of stick color choice start at $145
ORIGINAL or STEALTH cello or
viola bows of stick color choice start at $155

My husband William ordered it for my birthday and though it was a
little late, it was well worth the wait. It was immediately
comfortable and I have come to like it more and more. My two other
bows now languish unused even though they are both of good quality, one
wood and the other a Musicari from France. I'm just really happy with
the Incredibow- it feels lovely to use and I'm even happier with the
sound, especially since we're recording a new album. I'm not a
brilliant player but it makes me sound much better than before so of
course that makes me very happy!
Thank you for the great product and for the great customer relations
despite being sick over the holidays.

========= REVIEW ==========(JANUARY 2007)
I purchased an Incredibow at a festival two and a half years ago, just
when Dance of Delight were starting to import the beautiful bows. I
to be a conventional fiddler, until I got my hands on the prototype 6
string Barnshaw electric violin... and ever since then, I have kept a
very open mind concerning new technology and innovations in the violin
What initially caught my eye was the finish. She spoke out to me from
the stall, with her 'Aurorabow Realis' glare and red hair. Mark then
really took his time and explained how the bow was made. Carbon-fibre
rod. 'Unbreakable' hair. Preset tention etc. etc. He explained how he
snipped a hair off of one of the bows with a pair of cutters, and tried
to snap the hair by putting one end in a vice, and pulling at the other
with a pair of pliers.... he failed :)
"Could I have a go please?".... When I did, it was amazing. The bow was
full of Tartini/Vivaldi rosin (which I would highly recommend for this
bow), and it made my 6-string sing. What was strange was that I had
opted for a cello bow... it had a great weight and felt good in the
hand.... the sound it produced from the violin was fantastic!...
Needless to say, I did not give the bow back to Mark! I used every
penny I had on me to get hold of her. She looked great under the lights
that night during the Mad Dog gig!
Two and half years on, I HAVE NOT SNAPPED A SINGLE HAIR!!! As I said, I
used to be a conventional fiddler.... These days, I'm not gentile at
times with the violin (she can take it, so can the bow), I turn the bow
around and hammer the strings like a hammer-dulcimer, I have dropped
bow in puddles, dropped it in beer, on audience members heads... Lets
just say that I have played countless gigs in extreme conditions, and
she is as perfect as the day I purchased her.
I used to go through a 'throwaway' bow every couple of months... yet I
still have the same bow, with the same hair! I can see this bow lasting
as long as I.
I would say that an incredibow is an essential part of any bowed
instrument. Until you have tried one, even my enthusiastic comments
mean nothing... Having it in your hand, drawing it across the
strings.... its like telling a blind man how to see.
